Ok, it’s time for a car service.
To keep up your car’s warranty you have to have it serviced every so often.
What you probably don’t know is that it isn’t necessary to have the dealership perform your car servicing on the Gold Coast. They just imply that so you keep taking it back to them.
It’s a nice little earner for the dealership, but any qualified Gold Coast mechanic such as GC Suspension can do the job and you won’t lose your warranty.
GC Suspension, Steering & Brakes, would like to give you a head’s up on the do’s and don’ts of car servicing in Gold Coast.
Don’t
If you do take it back to the dealership, don’t believe them when they tell you any part that needs replacing has to be from the manufacturer or you will lose your warranty.
It’s not true.
That particular part may not be covered in the warranty, but that doesn’t void the whole coverage.
Do
Read the car handbook and follow the recommended maintenance schedules for the different parts of the car.
If you aren’t up on mechanics, at least find out the names of the different engine parts and what they do so you understand when a mechanic is explaining something to you!
Don’t
Don’t tinker or do-it-yourself if you haven’t any mechanical ability whatsoever.
Leave it to the experts.
Do
Regularly check all fluids. That means coolant levels, brake, and power steering fluids, plus oil and transmission levels.
Don’t forget to check the radiator for leaks too.
Don’t
If you have new tyres fitted, don’t forget have the wheel alignment checked after.
Also, don’t forget to rotate your tyres, back to front, at least every 6 months.
Do
Do replace your air filter on a regular basis. We recommend every 12 months or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Don’t
If you have a battery that isn’t sealed and take it out to charge, top up or just to clean the terminals, don’t mix up the positive and negative cables!
